Waking the Dead

Waking the dead by John Eldredge is a book that is written, I think to awaken people to the fact that there is a battle raging, and we are in it. To teach us how to control and protect our hearts, and maybe to show some the path to salvation. "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly". (John 10:10 KJV). Jesus promises us life abundantly, and I think this book will help with that. From this book I could say I learned alot about the heart, how it is deceitful and you have to protect and control it, put on the armour of God.
In my opinion this book is a good book with many Biblical points and verses to suport them, but also uses quotes from books that I don't particularily like, for example, Lord of the Rings or Narnia. This book focuses alot on the heart and being saved and free. This book also will maybe show you ways you can walk closer with God. The reason the book is a good book is because it uses good Bible verses for support and from different versions. But somethings I would take out are some of the (in my opinion) pointless quotes from Lord of the Rings or Narnia.
I like the author's style of writing because he uses the more teenage style of talk. This would be a pretty good book for anyone from a teen and older to read because it applies more to us, like I know I struggle with spiritual battles against Satan over my heart. It would be a good book also for a pastor or leader of a church to read. The reason I say this is because in this book John does give a good illustration using Lord of the Rings. In the story there was a king and all around him the oarks were attacking and his soldiers were being defeated, and yet he refused to go into the battle, Aragorn kept telling him he needed to go and fight to save the kingdom, but still the king refuses yet again. This is much like some pastors and churches, Satans forces are attacking and souls are being lost all around them, and yet they refuse to fight back. If you get the chance, I would recomend that you read this book.
